Is Secret Cash Blueprint 2.0 a scam?

Craigs List...Is this a scam?

  • I am an artist just starting to sell my work online. I posted an ad at Craigs List for a painting (also posted a photo of painting). Now, I had always intended to create a paypal account, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I know not to accept personal checks or do any business with wire transfers or anything. I also know that some people create fake money orders....but I need advice on this. Here is our communications by email Customer: Still available? Me: Yes, painting is still available. It is 16 x 20 for $50 bucks. If you are interested, just call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx. I live in Houston near Pasadena, but I am willing to meet customers half way if needed. Customer: I really appreciate your response to my email. I want you to consider it sold,Pls do withdraw the advert from Craigs List to avoid disturbance, anyway, I don't have time to come over to take a look because of my business but you don't need to bother yourself with the shipment, I'll take care of that by engaging the services of a shipper, hence I'll be sending a Certified check and it will be delivered to you via United Parcel Service (UPS), so I'll need you to provide me with your name and address to mail the check. Note that the payment will be shipped to your address via UPS Next Day Air service and I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping I will have my shipper come over as soon as you have cashed the check. At first, I didn't see the harm in giving my address. I did so, then later I got to thinking that this could be a scam. From now on, I am only accepting cash or paypal. I dont know if this person is really going to send a certified check. If he does, I was going to verify it first. I called the police and asked them a 'What if" question. I told them the cercumstances and asked them if I did get a fake money order, and it was cashed, would I be held accountable. They told me no, that I wouldn't be. But I also heard that sometimes the bank will cash it, then hold you accountable later. So how long does it usually take to clear to make sure? See this guy might have already mailed it, I won't be accepting them from now on, but if I do happen to get it, how can I make sure it is real? Is this a scam....the more I think about it, I think it is.

The police were wrong, you are responsible if you deposit it, here are just some people who have been arrested falling for craigslist scams http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/30/BUGTGKRHSF1.DTL http://www.kirotv.com/money/16091642/detail.html

SCAM - go to Craigslist and look under scams - yours is listed there. They don't want your painting - they want the certified check deposited and wire them the remainder of the funds. By the time you figure out the certified check is bad you are out that money - the money you wired them for the overage and your painting.

I have had similar responses on craigslist. Just don't reply. There are a bunch of weird ones out there. Besides somebody out of state is rarely looking at ads outside of their home area. I do not believe there is a nationwide search option, so they would have to search each city one at a time.
