How to get a hotel internship in NYC?

• I'd like to ask if anyone has experience looking for a hotel internship in NYC & how did you do it? I tried to search online but could only find 1 unpaid internship in a 2 star hotel. I've heard it's not so much a trend to do walk in for job application nowadays, but what about hotel internship? it's not an actual job so it's not like we can apply online or write a respond to an hiring ad. Would it be considered weird to go in the hotels & ask if they hired interns? if yes, what's the proper way to ask? thanks ahead for the help !
