How can I be better at my new job?

How can I get a job at a hotel in New York City?

• I'm 18 years old I've worked at a sleep away camp as a counselor. I've also worked at a program to help kids learn how to read (help with homework) and I am currently in market research. My current job is just me sitting in a chair for six hours calling people to do surveys over the phone. For me it is a horrible job to sit in front of a computer and talk on the phone all day. I would prefer to get a job in a hotel, one because I love to stay in hotels and two as of the last few months I want to pursue a career in business. I hate to sit and do surveys and get paid for it I want to learn something from my job. I'm not sure what exactly are the positions I can apply for at a hotel but I'm sure its better than my current job. At least this way I'll slowly learn about how a hotel runs. I've got a list of hotels I'm going to call tomorrow because I don't have money for transportation. I know I should have money because I have a job but I pay bills and get around $140 a week or so. Which is one of the reasons I need another job to pay off my college debt so that I can go back as soon as possible. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance
