Which stores hire at 14 years old?

  • I need a job and i'm 14 years of age! I live in new York, and i want to work in like a store or movie theater or something as a cashier. These are the stores that i live close to. Which one of these hire at my age? Although, i'm pretty sure they most likely hire at 16. Duane Reade, Starbucks, Rite Aid, Burlington coat factory, Kohl's, movie theater, MC Donald's, Barns & Nobels, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Boston Market.

    Kohl's requires you to be 17 years old to apply. State laws may prevent you from applying to most of those places you listed and most of them do hire at at least 16. Chances are slim that any of these places will hire you to work as a cashier. Cashiers have responsibilities far above and beyond simply ringing people in - they also hold cashiers responsible for balancing their drawers at the end of the day. You will also likely need a work permit to get a job at any of these places at your age - you can get one by talking to your school systems district board.

Most places hire at 16 because of liability and sorry but no store would let a 14 year old be a chasier its just to young you might end up just cleaning the bathrooms and the rest of the store. in the end you can try but its a strong that you wont get the job.

Try applying for a job in a supermarket they are more likely to hire you especially the mom and pop chains, CTown Keyfood Met etc..
