Can I use an American Express gift card to buy things online?

  • I recently got an American Express gift card for xx amount. I was wondering if I could use it to buy things online. I was planning on using it for purchasing items on e-bay, but was not sure if they would except the card or not. If anyone knows or has done so please help.

No, you can't use an american express gift card to buy online. To use a card online, you have to have a name registered with the card. If a name isn't registered with the card, it won't work. If you tried to use a gift card to buy on ebay, you will need to have a paypal account, which requires you to have a credit card registered with them. Only try to buy online with gift cards from stores like Amazon. If you use Amazon gift cards, you don't need a credit card registered with the account.

This way, you will be able to verify your transaction to the selling website.
