Where can I work as a 14 year old in California?

Where can a 14 year old work in southern california?

  • Please don't say that's too young, you CAN work at 14. I know at fast food places, but which ones? and Also can I work at a gas station? Or are there any other places? Also, I can't babysit, my place has no room for toys and stuff. Thank you.

    You'll need a work permit to work in those fast food places and like others have mentioned, there are limitations. You may only be allowed to work 8 to 15 hours per week. Most retail situations might consider you. You might want to think about hair salons like Supercuts, or maybe try Macys or Target or similar places. Also, consider what it is you like to do and perhaps try for companies that fit what you like. Too often people go for a job for the money only. And that gets boring fast. You're going to spend time working, so try to find something you enjoy doing. Then the money will have more meaning.

The main problem is not you its the employer. Having younger workers means more requirements. You can only work a few hours a week. limits on when you can work. What you can do. and most important what you can't do. This make it hard for a youth such as your self to convince a employer to hire you. Fast food can be hard too, you may be able to clean the dining room yet you won't be able to put the trash bag in the compactor. I wish you the best of luck in joining the work force.
