How old do you have to be to become a security guard?

I live in California, how do I go about getting a 'guard card' to become a security guard?

  • I am having a heck of a time getting a job so I'm resorting to getting a guard card and working for a security guard firm - hey, I have bills to pay. Most of the companies I see online require a guard card. How do you get this? Is there a guard card class somewhere?

    San Bernardino has a class you can take. Check with the Sheriff station there and they will direct you. While you are there pay for or get your finger prints. You will need them when registering with the bureau of security and investigative services in Sacramento. The class covers, training, arms, pepper spray and weapons. The current cost of the class goes between 100 and 250 US.
