Where is the best place to find a job for a teen?

• Hi, i'm a 15 year old teen looking for a job this summer. I will be 16 this june though. I live in Los Angeles, and really want to help my family with the money and all. I know for most teen jobs you need to be 16. So i'll be 16..before school finishes. What's the best location..for me to work at? The best location that does accept teens most of the time. An online website? Please help! And thanks! (:

  You should speak to a counselor at your high school, often they have info on jobs that you couldn't get yourself. Some employers get tax credits for hiring students. Ask about community center summer jobs, and other similar organizations. Some jobs may depend on your parents' income. Then you should find out where other kids your age work in your area, and apply there. Always see if you can go into the store to apply. Don't just call, go in and ask. I know of a couple of popular retail/food stores that will tell kids No jobs on the phone, but in person they will give them an application because there are jobs. Let everyone know that you are looking for a job, you never know where the opportunity will come from. Also, if you have been taking lessons someplace for a long time, like art, dance or karate, see if there are any jobs there. Don't take it personally if you have a really hard finding a job, it was literally the worst summer in recorded history for teen employment -- since the 1940's when they started recording such things.
