What education is required to be an RN?

Hospital in Houston, TX will pay for my RN education?

  • Does anyone know of any hospitals in Houston, TX that will pay for your RN degree? I know that obviously you would have to work for them for like 2 years, but I'm willing to do that in order to get my RN degree! I really, really want to go to school and I just can't get my hands on a scholarship (specially with every other person in the city applying for the same one). I graduated from h.s May 2007. And have a really good GPA, I'm good at school and all, but just don't have the $$$, neither do my parents. And I just started my credit so loans do not apply. Please, ANY info on hospitals in houston, tx that pay for your RN degree, and how do I get in contact w/ whoever is in charge of this department. Or how do i apply. Whatever information is GREATLY appreaciated! Thanks guys :' ]

  • Answer:

All of the hospitals have tuition reimbursement for their current employees. How that works is you need to currently be working at the hospital. Look for an entry job like Nurse's Aide. You then have to pay for your school at the beginning of the semester and if you pass your classes you will get your tuition reimbursed. That is tuition only not any fees such as lab fees or parking. There is also usually a cap on how much you are reimbursed per year so you do not get 100% of your tuition cost back to you. I'm an RN and I have worked in hospitals since before I was an RN and that is how I helped pay for it. The rest I got student loans.

Usually, in order for a hospital to pay for your RN or any education beyond that, you must already be working for that hospital in another capacity and show interest in continuing to work there with the degree you are asking them to pay for. I'm applying for the same thing from the hospital I currently work for. It is not in Houston, but it is in Texas.

Methodist use to do a loan repayment program however I don't think they do it anymore. You can try them and see what programs they offer. There may be some form of a plan available
