Go to your local Michigan Works and fill out an online resume (which can be viewed by potential employers) for free. While you are there, brush up your technical and computer skills. You can also surf open job postings. Log on to other job posting websites - CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com, and the like to look for jobs and to apply. Consider going through a temp agency. Do your homework and check into each one online to find out what types of people they typically place. Temp jobs can often lead to full time jobs. You have to find a way to stand out against all the others who are currently applying for the same jobs. If and when you get a job interview, dress professionally, be prepared (research the company, ask questions), and always send a thank-you note following your interview (make sure it is hand-written).

There are several schools in metro Detroit that are always hiring bus drivers and substitute bus drivers. Go to some of the web sites for school districts local to you or go in person to the district offices with your resume and have a copy of your drivers license with the classification ready to give to them as well.
