My daughter had an interview with Wings Model Management in Cincinnati. Does anyone know anything about them?

They didn't ask for any money to sign, just said we needed comp cards (which we did not have to buy through them). They said they did not require any of their models to pay for training, classes, photo shoots with them etc. They did say there was a fee of $175 for two years for their website, which would have 9 pictures of her on it. They also offered to be her mother agent. Not sure how many girls actually get to work overseas. She is only 5'8" but proportionately very thin and long legged.

Answer:
I don't know that agency but it sounds pretty legit - if they were an obvious scam they would have forced you to produce your comp cards through them or pay for classes. While most people will say you don't pay any upfront fees, the reality is, these days most agencies will charge a marketing/promotion fee that should be less than $200. Even a lot of the big NY agencies are now charging this Regarding the Mother Agent, don't sign anything until you fully understand the contract and how long and under which circumstances that will apply. You want that to apply in the narrowest of circumstances and you want a time limit on it. Unfortunately there are many agencies who put in a mother agency clause that gives then 10-15% on ANY work you book as an actor or model for the rest of your career, whether or not your contract with them has expired or they had anything to do with you getting that job A mother agency fee should only apply where your agency actively got you a job with another agency. But you should not be paying it if you move cities, and you find another agency on your own without any input from your old agency. So if your agency gets you work with an agency in NY, Tokyo, LA, Paris or anywhere else in the world, of course they deserve their mother agency fee. You would never get that work without it. But if 5 years after leaving the agency you go to London as a student and get scouted on the street and signed to an agency, then you would not want a mother agency fee to apply Also try to limit the scope of the fees - for example to modeling only. Some agencies try to get it to apply to any sort of "talent" bookings, meaning even if they didn't represent you as an actor, if you get an acting job in the future they can claim their mother agency fee as it falls under "talent" If you don't understand contracts, get a lawyer. It's cheaper to pay a lawyer $200 now to make sure you understand everything than to potentially have to pay your mother agent $150,000 5 years from now if you got a $1.5 million Victorias Secret contract that was booked through another agency that your mother agency had nothing to do with - but the terms of your original mother agency contract give them 10% of everything you do
