Is Roseland neighborhood in Chicago a safe neighborhood?

Which Chicago neighborhood would suit my needs?

• Ok. So, I'm a freshman in High School at Walter Payton College Preparatory, and my parents are planing on getting a divorce so I need to find an apartment where me and my dad could live. (My mom has a house with her parents so she's set. But there's family issues and blah blah blah not to get into the nitty gritty) Anyway back to my problem my dad works as a Police Officer so he needs to stay in the Chicago area, and I need to be at least 30 mins away from Walter Payton BUT we have super tiny budget [lawyers these days take soooo much money :(] the rent cannot exceed $1000. Oh maybe just one last thing, it would be a great perk if it had a good neighborhood school so my brother could just go there instead of Wells [which is our neighborhood currently] Wow. Ok re-reading this now I just want to make clear that I don't need 3 bedrooms...I just need 1 bedroom 1 bath and that's fine...so what's a good neighborhood? Thanks in advanced for the responses. :)

  Try Andersonville. I know of a nice building on Carmen (2 blocks S. of Foster) between Ashland and Clark. It is a courtyard building on the N. side of the street. They have 1 bedrooms (a few will be available Oct. 1) and they rent for under $900 a month. The elementary school is Trumbull, on Ashland and Foster. You can get downtown by el in less than 30 minutes from the Berwyn stop. Have your dad take a ride in that area and check the places out. Good luck!
