What Internet options are there in France?

Worcester, MA - Why is internet > cable+internet? Do I have other internet options?

  • I'm moving to Worcester and I am trying to arrange to get internet. Strangely, Verizon nor Comcast operate in this area, so I was told to call Charter communications. Charter told me that they offer internet at 35 dollars and cable+internet at 25 dollars at a promotional rate. I don't have a television and I didn't really understand this policy and because it's a promotional policy anyways it didn't sound like it would be worth my dollar to face the price of whichever plan I choose when the promotion ends. Does anyone know of any other options I have for having an internet connection in this area? I could pay to use my neighbor's wireless but I don't want to put my neighbor in a position to break his terms of service. It's not absolutely necessary that I have internet at home so if anyone knows of any local wireless cafes in Worcester then that would suit me very well. Thanks,

  • Answer:

You can get DSL from Verizon (and possibly Comcast, not sure about that), it's just cable internet service you can't get other than from Charter. Some areas aren't wired for DSL, but I imagine the majority of the city must be. There's public WiFi all over the place, including the public libraries, Starbucks, local coffee shops, etc.

well I have Verizon internet??! In Worcester!..so I don't know who told you what...have had it for about 2 years....and it's only $20!! I got in on that new customer thing and I have a phone with them...but I think they forgot to change my price because 20 bucks!!! so my phone and interent is like $58 a month.....I'd call them again at 1-800-870-9999....and sine I"ve always had a desktop but just bought a notebook my friend told me I could go to Verizon...store in Shrewsbury or the one in Millbury Outlets...and get a broadband wireless (if you have a notebook that is) for $50 a month....ya I keep Charter for cable only it's bad enough they charge like $90 just for tier 2!!!!!...go on wireless hotspots.com and put in one of our zip codes and you'll see a couple of them in little coffee shops...then of course there is Panera bread in Shrewsbury..and elsewhere...or buy a McDonald wifi card....good luck
