Looking for jobs in Austin?

IT Jobs in Austin, TX?

  • I just graduated with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and I have been looking for jobs in Austin, TX for almost 3 months now. I cannot seem to find ANYTHING that doesn't want at least 2 years of prior experience and proficient knowledge of C, C++, etc. I am looking for almost anything IT related that is entry level or offers some sort of training that pays around 40,000 per year. Is this an unreasonable or unlikely goal? What i do find that seems to be "entry-level" doesn't even require a college degree and pays around $10-$15 per hour. I feel like with a degree that I should be able to find better than this. I have had courses in Visual Basic, C#, C++, networking and security, database, data structures, project management, web design, a whole slew of multimedia classes with Adobe CS, and several business courses. I know I am a fresh graduate and definitely a novice, but companies seem to try and get around hiring fresh grads. Any suggestions or tips? I have gotten help with a Resume and feel like it is pretty solid.

  • Answer:

Lot of spam on this question. Sorry about that. There are a lot of tech people in Austin so it can be a challenge. This page has some options you can check out in town. http://everythingaustinapartments.com/blog/?p=283 I won't cut and paste the entire page here but there are several options for agencies that help place tech types. You may want to think about checking with some temp agencies to get some experience on your resume too. The page lists some options for that. Good luck.
