Does anyone go to University of Texas?

University of Texas Austin?

  • Hi guys. I'm still trying to figure out which college I *really* want to go to, although I'm already in college. I attend Michigan State University...it's my first year, but I'll be a sophomore because of credits next semester. I am not religious, very liberal and I don't want to attend a conservative university. I lived in Texas for almost 4 years and I loved it. I really like the "feel" of Texas, but I just don't like how conservative it can be. I was looking at UT Austin and was wondering what people think of it. I was wondering if I could get in-state tuition by establishing residency with my aunt and uncle. I know that Austin is a pretty liberal city. Also, I'm interested in film, language, and humanities. To anyone who has attended, how do you like it? Would I be better off staying in Michigan or the north for a more liberal education? I'm open to anything. Thanks a lot!

  • Answer:

I can't speak to the in state tuition issue, but beyond that, I think UT Austin is everything you want. Austin is by far the most liberal city in Texas, and UT reflects that. They have a good film school. Not sure about language or humanities. It's a *big* school. Many classes will have hundreds of people. Some people like that. Some don't.
