What are jobs for a 17 year old?

What kind of jobs can a 17 year old get that has no previous working experience that has good pay?

  • I really need a job and I was wondering if you could give me some ideas as to what kind of jobs I could apply for at 17. and that dont require previous experience

  • Answer:

Next to nothing, unless you know somebody who can hook you up with a "good" job. Nepotism is probably the only way you'll get what you're asking for. Otherwise you'll have to do what most people do: Suck it up and work hard at a bad job for awhile to get experience and references. It's called "Starting at the Bottom". This means Fast Food, Retail, Laborer and other menial jobs. Another option would be to go to college. Your starting pay will be somewhat higher and the advancement opportunities are also much better. Of course, that doesn't help your cash flow problem now.

Right now there will be a lot of experienced workers looking to get jobs too so they are your competition and the one thing about a teen that an employer would want that they can get from a teen is that they are going to be cheaper than hiring someone with experience so you are probably going to be making minimum wage. Don't let that fact discourage you from asking for more. Ask for 9 or so and then they might give you a little more than they would if you hadn't asked. If you participate in any after curricular activities (like a sport, music program, yearbook or debate) make sure to mention those things on your resume also if you don't make good grades don't bring that up. If you are taking honors classes or AP also that will help. You can get a paid Summer internship which may later lead to a well paying summer job but since you haven't got any working experience now I'd try at retail stores like Walgreen's, Target, HEB, Payless shoes or a store in the mall like Macy's or Dillard's. Dress nice and take the time to fill in your application neatly, also even though you don't have any work experience make a resume it will make your application stand out from all the other 17 yr olds looking for a summer job. Also make sure to hand your filled out application directly to a store manager or hiring manager don't just leave it with a random clerk. Good luck!

good you are at the right age to look for a job. try the library near there I think they said they need someone young enough to help other kids. but if you dont get the job then try this website here copy and paste http://recessionrecover.blogspot.com/ so that way I wont leave you empty handed. its a free site that will get you a little extra cash and its safe so if the library don't work out try the web site so you can make a little money for yourself good luck

If you are willing to work for me from ATX and spread the word of our new company up there, I'd be ok with that. Are you good on the phone with people? Do you speak well, carry a good conversation? Do you think you can sell over the phone from your dorm or your house? Checkout www.youspeedwepay.com that is what you'll be spreading the word about... simple. A service that people already want... what more could you want. Email me at [email protected]
