Philly Area Help - Is this Area Safe?

IS the area of atlanta around the buford highway safe?? please HELP!?

  • I know someone who is moving there maybe and i was wondering if that area is a safe place to live? anyone live or know of that area PLEASE ANSWERR!

  • Answer:

I grew up in Doraville... off Buford Hwy... there are still neighborhoods around the area that are older and have the same people living there that have been there for 40 + yrs.. so it just depends on where your friend is moving to.. and I would say neighborhoods are safer than apartment complexes.. in that area anyway

If it is on Buford Highway between 285 and downtown most of that area is very ethnic. I'm no racist I'm just saying the area is mostly Hispanic and Asian neighborhoods. Of course there are pockets of middle income white Americans but mostly because they have been there for 40 years. Up near Doraville and Chamblee the shopping centers on Buford are almost 100% Asian. Closer to town are more apartments and they are almost entirely Hispanic. If that is an issue I would reconsider.

First thing you should know is that Buford Highway is a long street that runs from downtown Atlanta to (amazing enough) Buford. I would question how "safe" any home along Buford Highway really is until you get well out of Atlanta into Gwinett County (and even then it is hit or miss). There are lots of nice neighborhoods that are accessed from Buford Highway and would be considered safe. However, if the address is ON Buford Highway, I would probably pass.
