Does anybody know any companies that hire ex-felons in Atlanta or the metro area?

  • Answer:

A lot of companies hire felons. Publix and Kroger are two that I know off hand. I used to be a parole officer so I know there are plenty of jobs for felons. What you must understand is that when you complete an application read it carefully. A lot of employers will ask if you've been convicted of a felon in the past five years. If you were convicted ten years ago and recently got out you would answer that question as no and you would not be telling a lie. Also I don't know your situation but if you happen to be on parole, whenever you report to the office to see your po and you're waiting in the lobby with all the other parolees, ask them where they work. Eighty percent of parolees are employed and the best way to find a job is by talking to other parolees. Also go to your local department of labor and tell them that you want to take TOPSTEP. TOPSTEP is a program that is designated for people in your situation. It willl teach you want you need to know and you wil receive a bonding letter that you can give to employers that will inform the employer of a big tax break they will receive if they hire you. If you can't find TOPSTEP in your local DOL Office, visit the DOL office in Decatur located on Covington Highway. I hope this helps and good luck!
