Why is it so hard to kill bed bugs?

Did I overdo kill with preventing bed bugs?

• I was hanging out at my friend's dad's house. She just broke up with her boyfriend couple hours earlier and I went there to support her. While was I was I had a chair which was next her stuff, my leg of my pants was touching her pillowcase. When she conveniently told me her ex boyfriends place has bed bugs. My purse was on the floor probably unzip too. So I soon I got home I throw on content of my purse into a garbage bag. Throw my purse out. Put all my clothes in the dryer for 70 minutes including a blanket that was on my bed ... Because I by mistake put down my cell phone (which was in my purse)like 5 minutes to throw my purse into the garbage can. I put garbage on top of the dryer for it to heat up the bag put cellphone on top dryer to heat it up in case something on into as well. I took a shower with hot/warm water and washed my hair. I was only there at my friend's house for probably two hours tops. Did I over do it with precaution?

  The thought of having a bed bug or eggs on you made you feel that way. We have been reading about the bed bugs come back and how hard they are to get rid of and it can give you the creeps.
