There is nothing you can do to stop them from coming from other apartments into yours. I work for an exterminating company & I will tell you first hand, that Maxforce Bait Gel really is the BEST stuff on the market. Everyone ONE roach that eats this stuff will kill 40 more & so on. Ofcourse this would mean, the more roaches there are, the faster it works, but if you only see a few here and there, it will still give you excellent results. Doing this once a month should controll your roach problem a GREAT deal. One tube should do an apartment twice. Only put a TINY drop (about the size of HALF a pea) in cracks & crevices (like inside of cabinets, in every corner, ontop of door frames, door hinges, behind the couch so no one can see this stuff - it is brown). Trust me, this stuff is AMAZING. I'm sure you can find a lot of reviews on this stuff by searching google or yahoo. If you can't find this stuff in your area, try www.allpestpro.com or www.pestcontrolamerica.com. Other than that, keep your apartment clean, don't leave food sitting out, treat once a month, and smile :) EDIT- If you DO chose to have an exterminator treat or if your landlord will pay for one, make sure they use Maxforce Bait Gel (just ask, they will let you know), A lot of companies will fumigate (fog, bomb) and generally make the problem MUCH worse. (Whatever you do, do NOT use foggers for roaches!!!) and some compainies just use a spray, which often, is never enough to control a roach problem. Another good way to treat is to use the maxforce in the Kitchen & Bathroom, and use a good spray (permacide is good) around the rest of the house (baseboards). But do not contaminate one with the other, or the roaches will no longer be attracted to the bait. Again, Please do not use bombs & foggers!!! This is a common mistake that many people make when roaches start popping up. The females will detect the spray, get as far away as possible, drop their eggs, and then come back a few days later, with all their newly hatched family members. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this happen. Good Luck!

where there's one, there's probably 50 more hiding out.. being clean has nothing 2 do with it.. your whole apartment building has roaches.. so getting rid of them in only your apt. won't help.. the whole building has 2 be fumigated.. have owner call pest control.. roaches do cause asthma.. bummer eh

You have to be diligent on killing them. In 2000 I moved into a nice apartment building an immediately started noticing roaches. They weren't just in the kitchen, they were in the bathroom, in the closets, everywhere. I have never lived in a place with roaches so I was totally disgusted and freaked out. I had nightmares for days that the roaches were attacking me and my two children. And then I got angry. I was paying top dollar for a nice home for me and my two small children. Why should I have to put up with roaches? I called the management/maintenance office EVERYDAY and always asked to speak to the manager. I remained calm, but firm, and told him that I would not live in those conditions and that it was their responsibility to take care of it. They had an exterminator come into my apartment once a week for a month and a half. On top of the exterminator, I bought several Combat roach traps and put them in every cabinet, on the floor under the stove, fridge and sink, as well as in the bathroom and in the closets. I also bought a large box of BORIC ACID which I sprinkled heavily along the baseboards through my entire apartment, as well as in the corners/along the seems of every cabinet. **To roaches, boric acid is similar to a human walking on pieces of glass. I also carried a fly swatter around so I could kill every roach I saw. Within two months of moving in I didn't see any more roaches. I really think the problem was resolved largely due to the fact that I asked to speak to the manager every time I called, and that I kept informing him of my situation. The roaches were a thorn in my side, so I became a thorn in his side until it was taken care of. ***Very important*** Keep a journal or record of your conversations, including date and time that you call, so that you can refer back to it. If the maintenance manager is aware of how seriously you are taking this matter, then he/she will take it more seriously as well. I think it scares them when they know a tenant has documentation that they can use in court if needed!

you need to let your landlord know what the problem is

You should inform your landlord of the problem. Find out if he has a company that comes and sprays for bugs (he should) and ask what company. Then call the company and ask them to spend some extra time around your apartment because you're having a problem. I would also invest in some of those roach traps that you just set around the house to at least try to minimize the problem.

a bomb. not a one with the explosion, but a bug killing bomb. leave the house for a day and set it the gas will blow and all the bugs will b gone. trust me it works!!!! the reason u have to leave is cuz the smell is like an inhalant of some sort. so go head treat your self spend a day touring new york or something while your house gets de-bugged. u can find them anywhere hardwhare stores shoprite any grocery stpre for that matter.

Being clean doesn't keep roaches away altogether, although a dirty house will attract them more easily. Whether your building is concrete slab construction or not, there may be minute gaps between the walls and the foundation which allow the critters to come in, forage and take up residence. The little devils can squeeze in through the tiniest of openings, entry doors, window sashes and the like. Perhaps your landlord is willing to fumigate the building, but this is not only expensive for him, but a pain in the tail for the residents. Even if this is done, it would still be a good idea, if you are willing to use pesticides, to spray where your cupboards are attached to the wall, around your baseboards, your appliances, under your sinks, around the toilet, the window frames and outside doorways.

I use powered borax and some cooking grease or shortening. Mix them together to where it is like playdough, then just drop some of it behind the stove, frig, places that pets or kids can't get to. The grease draws the roaches and the borax kills them

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk
