How do you preserve a rose?

How do I preserve rose petals so they will still look good in 6 months?

  • My boyfriend bought me a dozen roses, and I want to preserve them so I can use them in some way at our wedding which is in a little over 6 months. They are about a week old now, and looking a little dry so I'm not sure if there is anyway I can still save them..???

The natural way is to hang them upside down in a sunny and warm room. The sun keeps them from getting too dark. The not so natural way is to go buy some drying media for drying flowers and plants. I am sorry I don't recall what it's called. But you have to cut the heads off, and put the media in between the petals and leave them in the container for quite a while. I would put your head wires in while they are soft and fairly fresh. Here is a link to the media if you are interested in that method. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Flower+drying.&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5019546660841685291&sa=X&ei=ajDZTtrLE9LXiQKp0Z24CQ&ved=0CDgQ8wIwAA

You can save them for years but they are naturally going to shrivel as they dry. There is no way to keep them looking like they do right now.
