Is it bad to use baby powder?

What can baby powder do to invading ants in your home? HOW should I use the baby powder against the ants?

  • I'm trying vinegar and water and that cleans up their scent trails, but I want them to NEVER COME BACK. Will baby powder do the trick?

    Baby powder with talc in it will repel ants. They will not cross the baby powder. The powder can stop them up. Some ants will leave and some ants will find another way in. It depends on where the nest is. If it is outside the ants will leave. If the nest is under the house or in the wall they will find another way in. That is where the bait comes in. The ants will take the bait to the nest and it will kill off the nest.

Really old baby powder was talcum, which is like fine sand, but modern baby powder is cornstarch. Better choice would be powdered boric acid, but the best thing is to find where they're coming in -- usually you can find the ant nest at the perimeter of the home. Buy a gallon of Scott's pest control at Lowe's, and spray a generous stripe all around the foundation, then spray the weep holes or other penetrations near ground level, then spray the inside of all the exterior walls, then spray under cabinets which have water -- baths, kitchen sink, laundry sink, etc. Keep the remaining Scott's in a safe place away from kids and pets, and plan to repeat every 3 months or so in Texas, more or less often in other climes.

the only way to get then to never come back is to get rid of the nest they are coming from, but others will always be moving in to take their place,,,,baby powder can act as a barrier to then, it does nothing to kill them
