Mouse gets food of the trap without setting it off?
-
I have set up mouse traps tried nutella, cheese, flour. But every time he gets the food without setting off the trap. What am I doing wrong? Any tips you can offer? If I have another run in with Mr. Jingles I might have a nervous breakdown.

Answer:
I always had the best luck with chocolate chips. Press one down, upside down onto the trap until you can't pull it off by gently pulling on it. This should do the trick.

for mice you really don't need bait just proper placement, a cats curiosity has nothing on them...peanut butter works well as long as maybe wrap some thread around the treadle and place a drop of vanilla extract....make sure it is mice you have and not the large outdoor roaches. Their droppings can be larger than mouse and they can eat in a night what ever bait you may have used on the trap for bait. http://www.arrow-pestcontrol.com/roachdrop.htm

Try cutting a piece of bacon and tying it on with a piece of thread. Just be careful not to set the trap before you put the bacon on.

Use peanut butter, it doesn't matter whether it's creamy or crunchy but it works. That's what the Pro's use when setting traps.

Sounds like you got Mighty Mouse at your house.
Oh wow! This mouse sounds incredible. Either that or you're not setting the trap correctly. But still, I trust that you're smart enough to set up a trap. I think the problem is that Mr.Jingles isn't walking onto the trap to actually set it off. This is just a suggestion, but you should try putting whatever the mouse has already eaten (stick with what you know) all over the trap so that there's a much higher chance of him trying to get each and every piece. But, if you try this, be careful not to put it anywhere that will interfere with the actual trap mechanism. I'm no expert on this, so this answer may sound a little stupid, but still, it's worth a shot... =] By the way, this wouldn't happen to be your culprit by any chance, would it? http://www.ornl.gov/info/ornlreview/v37_3_04/images/a08_mouse_full.jpg

holy balls, the rats that we get occasionally here (we live next to woods, so the nasty things try sneaking into my house) and here in Texas, theyre so big-***, that they almost set off the trap before they get on it.
forget the trap, go to store and get the sticky tape or sticky boxes. check regularly, when you catch him just pull him off and put him outside, remove from tape first, duh

If you could just borrow a cat for 24-48 hours, you might be better off.
