Who killed Mr. Body?

I killed a silverfish, should I leave the body?

  • So I killed a silverfish that was creeping along the bottom of the floor, and I killed it by spraying it with body mist a bunch of times. The thing is, I'm wondering if I should clean up the body or leave it. I was imagining a scenario where the other live silverfish (there is an infestation in my house, I have probably trapped/killed/seen about 50 so far these past few months. It's a problem.) see the dead one and go, "Oh omg we're all going to die here like this poor feller, we should all leave and go eat the walls of the neighbours instead". I know silverfish aren't intelligent, but can they at least have that much logic? Or are they just going to take the body and eat it. In that case, I will clean it up. I will not feed such disgusting little bugs, I want them to die.

  • Answer:

If you have a serious infestation and you want to deter the remaining pests, perhaps it would make a stronger statement if you remove the head of the dead insect, place it on a spike (probably a straight pin would do), and set that wherever you have observed a high concentration of silverfish--like in their pathway. This way the others would see it as they come to bother you, and, rather than just being intrigued by the smell of body mist, which they might find pleasing, and which might therefore tempt them to congregate, they would instead see the head of their friend, there on a spike. Most likely they would then panic and run for their lives, never to return to your place again. I know it may sound cruel to set up such a grisly display, but you want results, right?

Other answers

You always, always, always hide the body. The Society of Evil Overlords cannot stress this enough. Also, if your silverfish are smart enough to relocate because you murdered one of their kind, we suggest that you have a bigger problem than a mere infestation on your hands.

The Evil Overlord Society

just clean it up, there would be no connection to you killing the other silverfish

Lar

you are better off cleaning it up because 1.they will eat it and stay in your house longer and 2.your house will be cleaner :D good luck

Max

You are best to leave it there as a warning to the other silverfish.
