Bed bug bites or flea bites?

Whats the difference between midge bites,flea bites and bed bug bites?

  • I have these red itchy spots on me.I have a dog but she had a worm/flea tablet 2weeks ago and has not been near another animal nor does she have any signs of fleas.I found over 10 midges in my room the other night above my light.I've washed my covers and hoovered my matress and i go for baths and showers all the time and still i'm getting these.What are they?And whats the difference between these bites?

The red itchy blotches you describe could come from virtually any insect bite as they are a histamine reaction. Even very experienced dermatologists cannot tell them apart. If your dog has been treated I don't think it is dog fleas. If it is bed bugs you will see lots of blood spots on your sheets etc. They are dark red and about 6mm long so quite easy to see. Therefore my guess is that you are being bitten by midges. Try burning a citronella candle in your bedroom overnight. This should help repel the midges.

You seem to ahve an infestation of several types of pests and should ask your local council for help in the pest control section,it is likely to be bedbugs and cat fleas as well as the eggsare sometimes hard to shift in the crevaces of skirting boards etc,you can buy a flea bomb which you let off in the room with all the animals out especially fish and keep the windows and doors closed and thats quite good for any infestations.
