How can i find where my above ground pool liner is leaking?

Answer:
AG pools are easy, but first off, make sure it's not simply evaporation. The nights are getting colder and your evap rate has gone up. If you're losing more than an inch with an average 8 degree temp difference between air and water, then it's a leak. If it's less it's all likely evaporation.Check around your equipment visually. Look under the pump motor. If it's wet there or you see it dripping, the shaft seal is burned out. Take it in for repair, those AG pumps can be a nightmare to do the seal properly, depending on the make. If the equipment is good and no leaks, vac the pool, then shut down the equipment, have a beer or two and wait, while the current in the pool stops. Grab a mask and some coins and jump in with your dye. You can use old Ph reagent as dye, it actually works better than anything else on the market. Just remember that that bottle of phenol red can't be used for water testing afterwards, which is why I suggest using an expired bottle. Check the walls first, then set yourself up to do a search grid on the pool bottom. Use the seams as reference lines. Anything that looks like a mark, give a squirt of the dye. If it sucks in, you found it. Mark it's location with one of your coins. Then keep going. When there's one, there's often two holes. When you've searched the bottom, you're not done.Patch what you've found with a patch kit you can pick up at the pool store for 5 bucks. Next do a seam check, up close. Sometimes the seams on those 27 mil liners will split or separate. Don't forget the wall has one seam too as well as the entire perimeter. If you were methodical, I garantee that you found it. Have a beer or two. :)

There is a dye available that you can inject into your pool. Allow a Day or two after inserting (run your pump for a while to make sure it circulates). Then inspect your pool. Whever there is a leak should be tinted by the dye and you will find your leak(s) Craig http://www.arthurspools.com
