Why do plants have tendrils?

Does anyone know of plants that are vine-y or have tendrils that are suited to shady indoor environments?

  • Most plants I know of need full or mostly sunlight and don't do well in the rather shady environment of my room. I have plenty of plants outside but would like to add something inside as well. I love palm trees and plants with vines and would love to bring such a plant to my room to give it a tropical aura... but don't know anything. Please lend advice! :)

  • Answer:

Wandering Jew is usually planted in baskets because its leaves wander off and it spreads quickly. This plant is perfect for shady areas. It must be moist at all times. Wandering Jew gives white, purple or pink flowers which grow in little clusters. Its one of the easiest plants to grow, because it doesn't require much care, and grows in any condition and enviroment.
