    it is important that you build it so that it has the proper slope. For every six inches of height to cover you need a foot of ramp. Also, make sure that at the top of the ramp, you make it wide enough to turn into the doorway with. Depending on how it is laid out, you need an area 48-60 inches square to maneuver with. Sometimes more if you need to back in to wherever you are going. Also, it the ramp is 36" wide or more, you need a center stringer/support to keep the ramp platform from buckling. I built a platform ramp system for my mother-in-law with 3" rises for each step after her hip replacement surgery. It was fairly complex in construction, but still cost me less than $200 to build (my father-in-law jokes that it could withstand a nuclear blast). The main thing to think about in this deal is safety.

Go to your local lumber yard ask them for two sets of decking stringers these are already pre-cut and they have an angle so you can put them on a slight slope. You should also pisk up a few cinder blocks and 3/4 plywood (most lumber yards will cut the plywood how you need it for no additional charge)since the ramp is only temporary there is no need for heavy constructing. Place the cinder blocks where you need them place the stringers over the cinder blocks then install your plywood you can nail the plywood to the stringers to ensure that it doesn't move. A typical ramp should be three feet wide and have some type of rail.I don't know how long you plan on keeping the ramp,but be very careful because you can get a fine for not building it to code.
