What is a water hookup?

Do yo hookup water supply to the check valve on a hot tub?

  • Answer:

Yes, the check valve allows water into the tub but prevents water from going back into the potable water system. edit: Drinking water in referred to as potable water. A check valve allows water to flow in only one direction. In the event of a loss of water pressure contaminated water could be back siphoned into the water system contaminating it.

You have to have a check valve also called a clapper valve to the supply water. Other wise if there is a power failure the water from your hot tub could be sucked back in to the water supply. You can get fined for ignoring that. The check valve is a one way valve other wise water left in sprinklers, toilet tanks, pools, irrigation systems, dirty fountains, fish ponds could back up into the drinking water. Not to mention toxins.
