How can I recycle newspaper?

Is it better to recycle or compost newspaper?

  • Just wondering because I just built a compost box. But if it's more environmentally friendly, I will continue to just recycle the paper.

  • Answer:

The ink is not poisonous and newspaper is wonderful for the compost. Use it shredded and in layers between layers of lawn clippings ,veg peelings and leaves for a perfectly balanced compost mix. It is better to compost than recycle as recycling still takes more energy than composting.
