What is the internal energy of an ideal gas at room tempature?

Are gas fires being phased out in rented accomodation by law? if so what is the low cost/energy alternative?

  • My landlords are obliged by law to check gas fires by law for carbon monoxide leakage. The last time this was done the contractor found it unsafe and disconnected it. I asked the property managing agent for a replacement. She said they would only replace it with an electric fire as they were phasing out gas fires. My Landlords are the Crown Estate who also call themselves "Environmental Stewards" - surely they should be trying to find an alternative that is really energy efficient? Surely newer gas fires are less dangerous and comparably cheaper than electric?... I would like to make some informed suggestions to the landlords to offer as a replacemnent... Anyone had a gas fire fitted recently and can advise?... or, Does anyone know about the cost efficiency of wall panel heaters? (largest room is roughly 15'x20')

  • Answer:

Here's a good story : I pasted an excerpt below. See link for further info. It's an easy-to-read explanation.............. February, 2005 the Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha NE estimated that an electric water heater cost 75% more to operate than a gas heater. http://www.allthingsfrugal.com/f.h_options.htm
