It's springtime! The flowers are blooming, green foliage surrounds you, and suddenly your house is swarming with ants! well, it's not spring anymore, and the ants won't quit! Monday-They are in the Kitchen Tuesday-Downstairs Bathroom Wednesday: Staircase Thursday-Living room Friday-all around the house Saturday- All 4 bedrooms Sunday-Upstairs bathroom Monday-Back to eat my food in the Kitchen I have accurately mapped out a schedule. What is a remedy for ants? They don't go after my candy anymore- but after my Doritos, my Meat loaf, my Cheese -Its, and other snacks that contain NO sugar! They are mutants I tell you-MUTANTS!!!!!!!!!!!! * Thanks in advance*

Answer:
We have the same problem in the city in which we live. There is a saying in this town, that; " * was built on an ant-hill". Ants can be very persistant & problematic. What my Husband & I found as an inexpensive home-remedy (if that is what you're looking for)- was to take an empty spray-bottle, fill it with about 1/4 cup Palmolive or any other Dishwashing Soap mixed with water- & just go to town, spraying the little stinkers like crazy in all the areas where they are. Leave the sprayed mixture there as it is. We've found that this tends to work better even than conventional ant-sprays & is longer lasting (3 days up to a week at the most). The ants seem to be absolutely repelled by the Dishwashing Soap (I don't know if it stings their little anty-eyes or what), but we did find this method reasonably effective. I can't absolutely guarantee it, but I think it would be worth a try for you.

Use one of the ant poisons, but don't place it where you see them. Follow them back to the nest and put it on the path they use to and from their nest. If you put it only where you see them, you only get a portion and you don't get rid of the nest.

I'd say they are going after fats. Some ants do. We have ants that only come into our house at night. Very polite little guys. They usually leave just shortly after daybreak. Even so, we aren't really comfortable with the arrangement. Can you find where they are entering your house. There may be multiple points of entry. We found the entry points and put the food that they were going after outside the house at those points. It was our cat's canned food. They stopped coming in. Why should they, when the food they want is delivered to them? I'm sensitive to a lot of chemicals (get nasty migraine headaches) and so we can't use ant sprays. Our solution is working just fine for us. Oh yeah...they are following the same path because they lay down scent markers as they go to help them find their way around.

I have the same problem and have asked for the same assistance. The best advice given was to attack them from the outside it. So be diligent with setting out the gellied form of antkiller. It is made by raid, and you just put little dime sized drops where you see them coming in your house. In fact, I put those drops all around my house. Then I attacked the indoors with vinegar, as was already suggested. It will take some time and a daily routine, but you should be freed of the little bastards within a week.

Terro ant bait works great. It is sweet so they take it back to the nest and it kills the entire colony. Good luck

Ants are easy: their little tiny feet BURN like crazy when they encounter vinegar!! The cheaper vinegar does the trick. Spread it with a paintbrush on all the door frames, all the windows, inbetween tiles (where the little critters eat their way in - especially in older houses) etc etc etc . . . all with the windows WIDE open! Vinegar smells, but it works like a charm (and stops smelling once its dry) From the sounds of things, you might need to repeat this - 1 week apart . . you'll never look back!

Try getting those ant stakes from the home depot and set them around your house and around the outside. They will bring the poison down when scavaging for food and all the ants will eat the poison inside and die, killing off the population both above and below ground.
