How to make bonsai tree look like home tree from avatar?

I want to make a bonsai that looks like hometree from the movie avatar. so I need to grow a few trees in a circle and make the trunks fuse together making a hollow space, and I need to make the roots show. so I need to know how to do that. also should I use tamarind, sacred Budha fig, Japanese pagoda, or Indian banyan for the tree? thanks in advance :) and any other advice would be nice.
