Why are spiders afraid of horse chestnuts?

Why do chestnuts deter spiders?

  • We have a lot of spiders in our house,my wife is terrified of them. What shall she do with the conkers

  • Answer:

Supposedly it's the oil in their cover that deters spiders, so I suppose they must be fresh to work. There is a proprietary brand of spider deterrent spray made from conkers which would be easier to use, and would be a lot easier to keep fresh. Good luck!
