Do you have a Ford Transit Connect and how do you like It?

I had a special mattress made from my Ford Transit Connect van. It has a panhandle shape. How to fit a sheet?

  • The mattress is a square with a "panhandle" sticking out around the back seats and going to the front of the van. (Think of the shape of Oklahoma) How can I sew a fitted sheet? It seems impossible.

  • Answer:

Trace the shape of the mattress. Add 1/2" all the way around and then measure the perimeter. Add 1 seam allowance all the way around the tracing (so if the seam allowance was also 1/2", then you'd be adding 1" total all the way around the mattress). Measure the thickness of the mattress. Cut 1 "Oklahoma", with the seam allowance and ease as above. Cut 1 strip the (perimeter measurement + 2 seam allowances) x (mattress depth + 1 seam allowance + 3"). Sew the strip ends together. Sew the strip to the top. Turn under 1/4" on the bottom edge of the boxing strip. Sew elastic all around the edge of the boxing strip, hiding that once turned under edge.
