Just got my first flat in UK- need advise for keeping everything on track?
-
Ok so me and my boyfriend just got our first flat in the UK. I am trying to figure out how i will keep everything on track like bills being paid, keeping the flat clean, cooking meals and saving money. I have a few questions i'd like to know: 1.) is there a way or a website which can tell me whether certain things work out cheaper to buy or home make. Such as i think bread is cheaper to buy than baking it? But i think it's cheaper to make most meals rather than buying ready made? 2.) What chores need doing daily/weekly/monthly??? So forexample when should i change the sheets, when should i hoover, when should i dust, when should i do all the other things which need doing?? 3) i have 2 sheepskin rugs but both have lots of bits of fluff and things stuck in them, the hoover doesn't seem to be strong enough to get it out and using my fingers just seems to pull the hairs out.... any tip? 4.) how often, for 2 people, should i need to go food shopping and how much should we be able to keep the budget down to? how often should we need to buy a new loaf of bread, milk, eggs etc? or is this impossible to predict? /= i'm clueless 5.) how often should i expect to pay for a wash and tumble dry at a laundrette? and how much clothes can i fit in this? guessing we change our t shirts daily, jeans every 3 days or so, underwear daily, and jumpers/cardigans every other day? 6.) what cleaning products do i need to buy? 7.) is veg cheaper when bought on the market or at the supermarket? where's cheapest: sainsbury's, asda, tesco etc? in general 8.) we have no gas. heating consists of electric heaters, cooking is electric so how much would u guess our electric bills will be? if we're careful? and how much should water rates be on average? 9.) how strict are landlords when it comes to hanging pictures on the walls for example? 10.) how much does it cost on average to bake: a loaf of bread, a batch of biscuits, a batch of cakes 11.) and any other tips you have which have helped you over time/you wish you had been told?
