Whats your monthly electric bill for an individual?

Can my Electric bill be right? Whats yours?

  • Last quarter we got a bill for £345. They said it was big because they had underestimated our meter usage so we gave accurate meter reading and paid up to date. The next bill we just got is for £266 for summer mopnths. Is this normal? We are two people in a house that is entirely electric. We have a computer that is turned on quite a bit but otherwise don't think we use use any more electric than normal. Whats your Bill?

    the things that use the most electric are things that give off heat! so if you've got the dryer on all the time, and an electric fire, it should be quite high. However, it sound a bit steep for summer. get them to check the meter, as they read my gas wrong once and i was nearly charged 550 for a bill that was only really 130! good job i checked!

we pay about £100 per quater for electric in the winter and about £75 per quater in the summer. However we also par £120 per quater in the winter for gas and £100 per quater in the summer. There are just 2 of us in a 3 bedroom house, so hopefully that will compare..... I suggest that you try U Switch to get some details on some better deals that you are getting.

does seem excessive to be honest ask them to look into it, cos theres 5 people in our household and we have alot of electrical appliances etc got gas cooker and gas fired central heating and use the washer dryer everynite , u should appeal against it, there is an ombusman for all utilities eg offtel for phones, so try and find the wun for ur electricity

Ours is about £150 per quarter - three people here and washing machine on every day - tumble drier on most days. But all our water is heated by gas

Blimey, im sure it's wrong. Phone up and ask. I pay £10 a week on a pre pay meter. And everything apart from heating and cooker is electric! I would check, and ask for a prepay meter that way you know what you are spending!

That is alot, i live in a 2 bed roomed flat with my sister and use alot of electricity, mainly leaving lights on, leaving the iron etc. Our bill is never over £70. I would get your meter read again properly.

sounds very high to me I'm on a card meter we put about £10 aweek in and there's 3 TVs on most of the time computer i would get it checked out

That does sound a lot when i lived in a house with 2 of us electric and gas was £65.00 per month total and i was in credit by loads when i moved. Prices have gone up now though We now are a family of 5 and it is around £80 for both. mind you if you only have electric you are using so much more of it maybe without realising so get it checked anyway but It may be correct. give them a ring you can keep an eye on the usage by taking reading yourself and keeping an eye on it. Get their prices and work it out yourself for a quarter.

My monthly standing order was for £58.00 per month for Electric they have just increased it to £110.50 per month there are 3 of us in a three bedroom house we cook by Electric but we heat the house and water by gas I get really annoyed when I have to pay a large part of my hard earned wages out to a company who can not provide the correct answers why my bill has increased by almost 100%
