After all the flowers die on an orchid, should you cut the green stem totally off?
-
I always thought that you should leave the green stem (at least part of it so long as it isn't yellow or brown) and new stems will start to grow again from the base. This does happen for my orchids after a while. However I have a friend who insists that the green stems should be cut totally down so that new, fresh ones will start to sprout and grown in their place. She says the flowers will come back faster if the 'used' green stems are gone. Any opinions please. Thank you.

Answer:
Clicking on after flowering will go to a picture that shows how the stems are cut.
