Is it good or bad to have maggots in my worm farm?

• Recently I have been putting my scarps in my worm farm and noticed that there where allot of maggots. I was thinking about what I could do to get rid of them and then I wondered maybe they are good for my farm. can some one pls help me! Are maggots good or not for my worm farm. P.S. If they are not could you help find out how to get rid of them. thanx :)

  Hi Alice, Maggots are a common problem in Worm Farms, and they can be detrimental to the health and efficiency of your worm farm! Lets start off with how to get rid of the maggots, the easiest and quickest way is to take a piece of white bread and soak it in milk (gross I know) place that on the top layer of your bedding, the maggots will go right for it, let it sit for about a day or two, and once the maggots have gathered on the bread just throw the bread out along with the maggots. You can keep doing this until all of the maggots have disappeared. So how do we make sure you don't run into this problem again? We just have to keep an eye on what you are feeding your worms, stay away from all meats and dairy products (this does not include egg shells for your bedding). These two items will attract maggots, also if you happen to put in some other food scraps that may be moldy, a simple trick is to bury that moldy food a little deep in the bedding, therefore not attracting maggots.
