Can I grow an orchid from seed and how long would it take?

How long does it take for grass to grow in dirt without putting seed?

  • we moved into a house and the back yard there is a HUGE dirt circle left from when the people before us had a dog on a chain and the chain destroyed most if not all the grass. If I leave it be how long will it take to grow back on its own with no help at all? If i do buy grass seed what else will i have to buy with it to help it grow? Also how much does seed cost its just about 20 feet wide around so im not sure how much seed and seed feed i will need.

  • Answer:

Rake the area diligently until the soil is loose. You only need the smallest bag of seed they sell. Sprinkle it generously over the entire area and then rake it lightly again. Keep it wet until the grass needs to be mowed. I feel sorry for the dog. Chaining a dog like that is extreme cruelty.

It will probably take awhile to grow either way.

It will not fill in without sod or seed. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot. You will just need a small bag and a rake to prep the soil. It needs three weeks of water to germinate. Some have fertilizer in the mix. It is very inexpensive.

Probably the ground is compacted so it will have to be tilled a bit to loosen it up. Some hardware or feed stores carry bulk seed. You wouldn't need but a half of a pound. If you just leave it the weeds will overtake any grass that tries to grow.
