How do i make sensitive homemade soap?

i would love to make homemade soap as some presents but all the recipes i found on line included lye.... it sounds really horrible having a dangerous caustic substance in something like soap. can you make soap with any other ingredients which will be sensitive on skin? and do you have any good beginners recipes to get me started?

The lye wont hurt you, it contains no carcinogens, and your probably not allergic to it. I used homemade soap since childhood, and I have very sensitive skin-it is usually the perfumes in commercial soap that cause problems. Go ahead and make it with lye-it is what cleans and eliminates bacteria and oils when one uses soap.
