What is the biggest insect?

What is your favorite insect?

  • this is for my school project, please say what country you live in, or what country your insect lives in, what your favorite insect is, and if you want some info about your insect. you could also say about your least favorite insect and/or pest bugs that live in your area

  • Answer:

Philippines Rhinoceros beetle They are among the largest of beetles, reaching 150+ millimeters in length, but are completely harmless to humans because they cannot bite or sting. Their common names refer to the characteristic horns borne only by the males of most species in the group. They have a horn on the thorax and another horn pointing forward from the center thorax. The horns are used in fighting other males during mating season, and for digging. I hate mosquitoes, they bite that it itches a lot... also are carriers of Dengue (Aedes egypti), Malaria (Anopheles mosquito), etc.

The Garuda wasp of Indonesia. It's two and a half inches long, making it the largest known wasp. It's jaws are so large, it can't walk without dragging them on the ground. Plus it looks like something out of your nightmares. It's awesome, look it up.

I live in the U.S. My favorite insect is the Japanese firefly because they glow. The reason why they glow is because the want to attract a mate. Also, it's a way to communicate. Some Japanese believe their lights are the souls of dead kamikaze pilots in war. I hate cockroaches.

Muffin

Even though I was bitten by one three years ago (and I still have a 2 inch circle, mid back, that has no feeling to this day).. I STiLL have no ill will; and even though it isn't technically an insect.. I'd have to say the Black Widow Spider is my favorite. - She's strong & fearless and eats up other annoying insects..but humane about it. She rushes over, and before they know what hit them, she numbs them out, incapacitates them completely..wraps them up..and sucks them up. It's amazing. Los Angeles, California, USA. . . . . . . >i< . . <EDIT> I like bees, too. (above me)

My favorite insect is a praying mantis. I simply think they look cool. My absolute least favorite critter is centipedes. They're fast, big, and aggressive. They have no problem with chasing you down to scare the daylight out of you. I'm guessing you can sense I have a phobia. I live in Hawaii.
