How to repair a floor jack?

How do you repair a hole in a laminate floor?

  • i dropped an iron and it made hole 1" diam. Anyone know how to repair or if you can buy a repair kit. The floor is walnut colour (various shades of reddy brown).

  • Answer:

simple wood filler wouldnt be strong enough for this job, you need to purchase a colorfil kit from b and q this is a sealant that is solvent based it comes as a sealant and a cleaner it can be mixed to get the right colours or alternatively try getting an epoxy based two part repair stick from a flooring company. regards steve

Other answers

1. Get a new piece of laminate (same pattern). 2. Place the piece of laminate on top of the hole, matching the pattern of the existing laminated floor. 3. When the pattern of the new piece corresponds exactly to the pattern on the floor, cut out a 6" square piece of laminate using a utility knife. Cut all the way through to the solid floor below. 4. Remove the new piece as well as the existing piece of laminate from the floor. 5. Glue the newly cut piece into place using an appropriate glue.

For an effective repair you must replace the broken pieces. Sorry but there is no other way :(

try taking a piece from somewhere else you wont see eg "under the cooker" ,and cut to match and glue it or double sided tape

something like a wood filler. make sure it is rubbery based so it can move as the floor move and not crack. Good luck!!

A . Z .

How about wood filler it comes in different shades, good luck with the repair anyway

northcarrlight

Be careful with the woodfiller as we got some claiming it was the same shade as our laminate and it was blindingly obvious. If you have an offcut still lying around test the filler on it first. You may need to mix a few different fillers to get the right effect so play around on the offcut.

Your not really able to repair the floor to make it look the same, You can try some hardening putty just make sure it's pretty much the same shade and make it very smooth or it will be noticed easily
