How do i repair full automatic washing machine?

How can I repair holes in my washing machine rubber door seal?

  • My dog took a bite in the rubber ring seal of my washing machine. He left two small holes exactly at the top of the rubber in the bottom of the ring. Perfectly placed for the washing machine to leak a puddle of water each time I use it! Is there any way of repairing the holes? Perhaps using silicone or maybe a bicycle tube patch kit? Anyone tried this? Thanks!:)

  • Answer:

A puncture patch would be tricky if not impossible to fit without removing the seal first and even if you manage to get one in it's likely to leak after a few uses due to temperature movement and detergents. If I was you I would get a replacement just be sure to check you have the correct seal for you're model. Here is a link to a company with such seals: http://www.espares.co.uk/parts/washing-machines/seals/p/1564 Good Luck.

If you loosen the clamp that holds it in place, you can move it around to the top, some hardware stores have a kit for repairing kids paddling pools, try that way, meanwhile the hole will be higher, so the water might not reach the holes...Have a look at the types of seal to see what I mean..click link. http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/search/door-seal/washing-machines/c/?gclid=CLmyp9-tt60CFUhrfAodhFdTnQ

Ebay is not as likely to have it as the Manufacture or a parts house. Find the make and model and do a google on parts for it or the seal. Good parts houses have a breakout diagram that will have a picture of the seal and a part number. Then you just order it from them. It's better to replace the whole seal as if you patch it it will just break somewhere else at this point. I will come back and edit this as soon as I find where I got my refrigerator seal from. It may take a while. I searched on every key word I could think and didn't find where I got my Refrigerator seal from but here is one I goggled that will likely be able to help you. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/

This is a fairly heavy duty item. You may find it easier to replace the seal. Find a supplier on eBay. appliancehelp has a good stock and an eBay shop.
