The New Sears Commercial?

I have a sears craftsman riding lawnmower and it won't start. New battery, new solenoid and new starter.?

  • It will start when I jump it and it runs fine, but will not start on its own. I just hear a clicking noise that sounds like it's coming from under the carburetor. I have a new battery and new solenoid and starter but still the same problem. I am getting a charge to my solenoid and to my starter so I don't know what's wrong. Could it be the alternator or just a piece of crap sears craftsman? Any thoughts about what it might be would be useful, thank you.

  • Answer:

If it starts with jumper cables, but not with the battery alone, it sounds like the battery isn't fully charged. If you have a charger (preferably .5 amp), charge the battery for 24 hours and then try it. If it starts for a few days, but then won't, that would probably indicate that the charging system isn't working correctly. It is possible, although rare, that your "new" battery is defective. Depending upon where you bought it, they might be able to "load test" it and determine whether it is any good. An automotive service center can also test your battery for a fee.

mine would start with a jump but not on its own...turns out my battery had a dead cell...maybe your new battery has a dead cell...take it to napa and have them test it...
