What happen if you pump too much gas in a lawn mower?

What would happen if I hooked up an air compressor to the air intake of my lawn mower?

  • Just wandering about hooking up a standard air compressor ,like the ones used to pump up bike tyres, to the air intake of my lawn mower and see what would happen.Thanks.

    You will increase the air pressure on the intake side and then in the combustion chamber, which then will cause over pressure in the chamber and this will loosen the head bolts and cause the head to come off or the mower to shut down. Not worth the cost of a new lawn mower.

nothing, the engine wont run , and it will just blow air in it, you would change the air /fuel ratio so much , it wouldn't start

Most likely you will just blow air into your carb and blow the seals and the tank. Then you are paying for new lawnmower parts. Turbos on cars generally get to like 10-14 psi and are simply stuffing the cylinder with more air/fuel mixture. Air compressor is around 100-125 psi so you are just adding more pressure and not enough volume.

It would cause the engine to run too lean(just guessing) possibly burning the piston rings, pretty much toasting it. But do it anyway because I want to know too. But I guess like most things, the engine is only designed to work within a very narrow band of conditions...it probably would stop operating immediately or not start at all.

you see i think it will be problem engine will stop or blowout the Fuel tank will over level Fuel will come out it will be big mess . don't do that if you insist do that under air control valve to control the amount if air you inject ..!!!( you will not be able to control the speed)
