Is treated or untreated plywood more acoustically dead?

Is there a way to tell if plywood is pressure treated or not?

  • My dumb neighbor built a bunch of plywood planters and put them out in the yard where my dogs could get them. I know pressure treated wood is deadly if dogs chew it and was wondering if there is a way I can tell if it is pressure treated or not?

  • Answer:

If the planters aren't painted and are unfinished they will have a greenish tint to them, if so they're treated.

It will say right on it if it is treated. Ask the neighbor where he bought it, then call them and inquire. If the neighbor put the planters in his own yard, be a good neighbor and keep your dogs under control.

Pressure treated timber is green, also standard interior ply is used for pressure treating but laminated together with waterproof glue, the better quality marine ply is not used so look for imperfections in it and voids.. marine ply will not have voids and is a much denser timber

the edges would have been sprayed red if pressure treated... but you won't know if he cut them.

its not toxic any more, it should have a yellow tint to it,
