How to fix mechanical watch?

• I got a mechanical watch for Christmas, the kind where you can see the gears from the outside. Anyway I wound it and wore it and rewound it and stuff but one day when I woke up it was stopped and when I went to wind it the spring key wouldn't wind. It moves all the other ways like I can set it and wind in the opposite direction but it won't wind. Its been a few days since it worked but I have no idea what's wrong and I don't want to go to a watch fixer because getting it repaired professionally would cost more then the actual watch.

  You are very unlikely to be able to fix it yourself, with no prior experience and without specialized tools. I would imagine that it would be hard to even take apart without breaking more pieces, without the right tools and knowledge. If you can't afford to have it worked on, then just buy a cheap new one and put (or throw, or give) this one away...
