Why are Primo water filters so popular even though they're a ripoff?

• For 10 years, we had an Elkay hot/cold water dispenser in our house. It developed a leak, so I had to find a replacement. All I could find was a Primo, so I tried it. What a ripoff. First, the cold water doesn't get anywhere near as cold as the Elkay. I followed the instructions on the Primo website, and I turned the adjustment screw all the way toward the cold setting. The water got colder, but not as cold as the Elkay. Then, the supposedly spillproof top doesn't work with the standard water bottle I used on the Elkay. The water splashes all over the floor and the top of the dispenser. You have to use a bottle with a Primo cap, and Primo doesn't sell the cap separately. The only way to get the Primo cap is to buy a Primo bottle, which is pre-filled with Primo water. Primo water costs $1 a gallon, which is outrageous. I refill the bottle at home using an under sink water filter for much less than that. The Primo cap is not reusable, as far as I can tell. So every time you empty the bottle, you have to go back to the store and get another bottle and pay that outrageous price for water all over again. I found out I can get parts for my Elkay dispenser on Amazon.com. So I have repaired the leak, and as soon as this bottle of water is empty I'm switching out the dispensers and going back to the Elkay water dispenser. Why are people letting themselves get ripped off by Primo like this?

  Look on the back of your Primo water dispenser. It says "Made in China," does it not? People are so infatuated with "Made in China," they will buy it even though it is costing them more.
