How to fix an inner door handle?

How can I fix my upvc door handle that seems to have a broken spring?

• My upvc front door handle (only 6 months old) seems to have a fault with a spring or something. The handle no longer springs back into place when I lift it to lock the door. Is this something that is quite easy to repair? Will I need new parts or a new handle? Any tips on how to do this?

  As its a fairly new door, you shouldn't have a problem getting a new handle, unless you got the door from a DIY store. Even so they should be able to order one for you. If not, try your local UPVC supplier or replacement window company. All of these type of handles are catalogued and available. But first, take the offending handle off and check to see if it works ok off the door. It may have an allen screw on the handle that tightens onto the spindle or a cover that pulls off to expose the fixing bolts. If the handle is ok then it may be that the door needs adjusting to stop the 5 point locking system jamming. There may be adjustment on the hinges under the plastic covers top and bottom of the hinge. There are so many different types it is difficult to advise without seeing the door or knowing the make of hinge. Hope this helps. Good luck.
